A one-day protocol to resolve what discussion alone cannot

Talented teams can be hard to lead. Territorial behaviour, contested ownership, people operating outside their remit. Different operating styles, and limited self-awareness of their own actions and reactions. Repeated conversations have not changed that.

THE PROBLEM

Talented, ambitious people are not always easy to direct. Territorial behaviour, contested ownership, personality clashes, avoided conversations, limited self-awareness of how their own actions and reactions affect others. Left unaddressed, the energy that should be directed outward turns inward, and the team underperforms relative to what it is capable of.

Not a team building day, a facilitated workshop, or a communication skills session. Those do not address territorial behaviour, repeated authority disputes, or dynamics that survive every attempt to manage them.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

HOW IT WORKS

  • Pre-work Individual conversations with each team member, private and not reported to the group. A separate brief with the commissioning leader. Where Human Design is used, charts prepared in advance — a map of how each person makes decisions, operates under pressure, and what their behaviour looks like when stretched.

  • The day Patterns named. Where specific dynamics have accumulated enough charge to obstruct the room, EFT and NLP address them directly. Practical agreements reached about roles, remits, and how decisions get made — built around how the team actually operates.

  • After No ongoing programme. A follow-up conversation available if useful.

WHAT CHANGES

  • Behaviour that looked like personality conflict turns out to have a structure. Once that is visible, it changes — not because people try harder, but because they are no longer operating in the dark about themselves or each other.

  • In practice: decisions that do not need revisiting. Issues dealt with directly rather than managed around. Clarity on what requires leadership attention and what does not. Fewer repeat conversations.

  • If the problem is organisational rather than interpersonal, that will be said plainly in the preliminary conversation.

Meeting Room

WHO COMMISSIONS THIS

Senior leaders who recognise the cost, or HR when informal management has stopped containing it. Most effective with leadership or functional teams of up to eight to ten people.

One condition: the commissioning leader needs to be willing to examine their own role in the dynamic. In most persistent team situations, it is there.

"We left with a better understanding of our innate strengths and why we sometimes lock horns
it’s made working together smoother - less frustration, more respect for how each of us operates"

Frequently Asked Questions

How do we know it’s right for our team?

A short preliminary conversation will establish whether this is the right intervention. The day is shaped around real issues, not generic content.

Will it be too personal or ‘soft’?

No. The focus is on how work is being handled — decisions, conversations, roles, and dynamics. The approach is direct and the environment is professional.

What does the preparation involve?

Individual conversations with each team member and a separate brief with the commissioning leader. Where Human Design is used, charts are prepared in advance. Individual conversations are confidential.

Do you use Human Design with every team?

Not automatically. It is used where it adds useful context. Whether it is relevant is established in the preliminary conversation.

How large a team can you work with?

Most effective with teams of up to eight to ten people. Larger groups are possible and change the structure of the day.

What happens after the day?

No ongoing programme. A follow-up conversation can be arranged if useful.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Individual preparation conversations are private. The day itself operates on the same basis.
